Sounds like you broke your F7 install.  GDM is the gnome display
manager, the thing that gives you your graphical login window.

One way out is to re-install F7 on top of your existing install, which
will (hopefully) clean up whatever broke, but there's a chance it will
remain somewhat broken until the next clean install.

You could also try a forced "freshen" of the gdm RPM, using a manual
rpm command.
