And this isn't really a portage feature as portage itself doesn't care about use flag descriptions. The first requirement would be to enhance the metadata.xml syntax (or the ebuild syntax, but I'd prefer to avoid that) which probably needs a GLEP (see glep.gentoo.org).
Hi, I read through the Gentoo Developer Handbook now, and there's one thing I don't understand: Why is there a description in the ebuild and one in the manifest.xml, wouldn't one in metadata.xml be sufficient?
@useflags: But what if Use-Flag behaviour changes on different versions of ebuild? (I don't really think that will happen, but what if it does?)
And one last n00b-question: What or who reads metadata.xml? What is it for?
