Amen to that! It used to be that way but for some reason authors are jumping on one desktop or the other and making their programs dependend on it. That makes it bad for those who don't use that particular desktop - we either don't use the app or we have to but a bunch of extra junk in we don't need - kind of like in the Windows world!
