That's not good news. I didn't have any problem with nvidia or mplayer (except 
the problems I have anyway) when I tried nptl. The only problem I had was 
with canna, but it didn't segfault and instead just hung. When I tried nptl 
it was back with 2.6.0-test[2,3] and with glibc-2.3.2-r[2,3]. Going from this 
possibilities include nptl being sensitive kernel version and updated patches 
to glibc that have broken other things. Can't offer much more help than that.
