Keep reading, and you'll know why. Personally, I find the find plugin of emelFM2 <http://emelfm2.net> very nice and attractive. Essentially, it is a GUI combining grep / find / etc. It also provides a plugin on tracker.
For a find / locate frontend (not mentioning doodle, tracker, beagle, strigi and pinot), look at catfish <http://software.twotoasts.de/?page=catfish> . Still young, but looking promising. -- Liviu
