.What does everyone think about the whole
>pregnency not taking thing?

Remind me again- how many litters have Juan and Aveda had? How many weeks
apart have the litters been born? How old are your two gerbils?

Although I have only had the pleasure of watching two females breed, both
females exhibited similar patterns. First, Angel had 5 litters exactly 5
weeks apart without a break. Then no pups for about a month and a half,
then two litters 5 weeks apart. Then she was seperated from Norm. I
believe she needed a break and took one before continuing breeding. And,
she was fat the whole time. In fact, she didn't thin down until after she
left Norm.

Now, Cindy was a bit different. She had one litter very young. Then
stopped for about 2 or 3 months. I thought she'd never bear young again.
Then 4 or 5 litters about 5-6 weeks apart. Then she stopped having pups.
This corresponded to two ferrets moving into the house and I wonder if the
close presence of such smelly carnivores stressed her out. Either that, or
she just stopped having pups.

Perhaps Aveda is stressed about nearby scary things or perhaps she just
needed a break from breeding or perhaps she's just plain had enough. Thanks
for the update, though, I've been thinking about Aveda lately and wondering
what had happened with her.

Have fun with your chins!
