Well written, IMHO, your point is very clear.
I would probably add that GHDL is the most advanced
and best free software VHDL suite in the community,
and the lack of clear redistribution terms
from the IEEE makes it difficult to distribute GHDL in the mainstream
free software distributions such as Debian.
(I'm not sure that it was obvious in the draft)
