what is calling this function?  gmerlin or my xwindows?

aren't there video formats with RGB color space that will try to open an
opengl context when using gmerlin_play?

sounds more than fair.  However, I somehow doubt my system is so old.
The computer,  a lenovo t400, is less than 2 years old and uses the
_standard_ Intel graphics card.
