Let me try to be objective and measured in expressing my thoughts at this incredible moment in our time.
Nah! What the heck! This is my chance to be hyperbolic. This is the dawn of a new age in the glorious history of a great nation, in the unwritten destiny of this planet of sentient beings. The promise of Obama is not just a promise of an inspiring leader or a great statesman. Indeed, it is not a promise of any individual at all, or for that matter, any collection of individuals, a term which he has been wont to use. It is a promise of the possibility that the best ideas and solutions gathered from the wisest minds will finally be used to solve the world’s problems, guided by history and evidence rather than rigid ideologies, wedge issues and political calculations. That intellectual curiosity and self-examination will triumph over impulsiveness and expediency. That reason will prevail in all material affairs. That rhetoric will be used to inspire and unite, not threaten and incite. That human dignity will be respected as much as human life itself. Cheers, Santosh
