Hi Steve, While I'll agree that experimental feature might be subject to change and deprecation, all the stable API [1] are here to stay and are subject to the 3 years deprecation policy [2].
Also note that Stack Overflow questions and anwers can be edited over time (like a wiki), unlike the groups where it is really difficult to surface and update interesting content without creating a new thread.
