Generally the duration is set by the reactor type - a GURPS Vehicles fusion reactor of the sort used in this design has a 200-year fuel supply built in, and at least in some settings the reactor itself has been sufficiently radiation-brittled by the end of that time that it needs to be replaced. In GURPS Spaceships, a TL11 fusion plant has fuel for 600 years.
