Yep. I did that the very first day I had the booksense. I was trying to turn it on and nothing was happening. I remember freaking out for a second because I had just spent $500 and didn't even get to use it once. Fortunately, I checked, and sure enough, the only thing wrong was the lock switch. Even after that experience, though, I really like the lock switch. It's a great feature to prevent you from pressing buttons acidentally. Missy
