I would definitely call GW Micro Tech Support on Monday for further accurate
advice. I believe that whether you are dealing with a couple of units with
specific foibles or it is simple, GW will make good on it. I had a similar
experience with another product a few years back, and they did make good on
it. Just call and see what is to be done. I use my Book Sense lots every
day, but leaving it idle for a period of time should not disable it. I am
sure your investment will prove to be wise if you can be patient even though
it is disappointing to have these things happen.

Subject: Re: [GW-Booksense] it died
I am dealing with a similar experience. I let my book Sense sit idle for
about a month, and now I can't wake it up. I charged it all day with the
USB port of my computer. It got warm but wouldn't turn on. So I charged
it with the plug-in charger. The little lady told me brightly that I had
disconnected Book Sense from the power cord, but won't speak the time or
turn herself on.
I have removed and restored the battery a number of times, and have now
returned her to the charger because I can't think of what else to do. I
assume removal of the battery is a hard reset, so using the 4 key and
whatever else won't make a difference.
I assume there is a way to resurrect Book Sense, but so far the usual
tricks haven't worked.
Suggestions, anyone???
Hi,
I don't usually write to these kinds of topics but I have had a terrible
experience with the Book Sense.
I am a new user and have been so excited to get it. I bought it after
carefully considering where to put the bucks because it is so expensive.
I was determined to get something that would meet my needs not only now
but in the future. Yesterday I had someone help me get my nls key
straightened out and learned how to download from bookshare and NLS.
Although NLS turned out to be a problem, things were looking up.
A little while ago I tried to download a book from bookshare. It went
very well. When I went to disconnect the bs from the computer it stopped
responding. I waited until I heard the computer say "Safe to remove
hardware" before I disconnected it. When I did disconnect it everything
died. The bs does absolutely nothing now. It doesn't even speak the
time, turn on or off. Let alone play anything. I'm so upset.
I have tried to reset it several times via hard reset and removal of
batteries. I get nothing. I even tried plugging it in and then resetting
it. Nothing.
I was wondering if you have any suggestions.
I see a lot of people on here talking about returning to their strream and
think that's great if you can afford to do that. But I put out a lot of
money for this and don't have the cash to just say "Oh well" and go out
and buy a Victor Stream now. yt took a lot of research before I decided to
buy it just because of the cash output. I was hoping this would be
something that would work for me. Now it does nothing. I am so
disappointed. Help if you can.
Thanks,
Donna
