Hello. We were hoping to address the volume issues better with the 2.0 round. However what we wanted to do was not going to be possible right away. There are 2 issues.

1. Adjusting the TTs volume separately than the over all volume.

2. Enhancing the volume of lower-recorded audio such as NLS and some Audible books.

Although on the surface it might seem like it's a simple matter of adjusting some numbers to add or remove gain, it's not so simple. The volume issues are ones which I have been pushing for a long time and like you, I am hopeful they will be addressed ASAP. However it's just not a reality for version 2.0.

Many thanks.

I would entirely agree. I would love to see and am quite quite surprised to
not see that the ability to control/set the volume of the TTS separately has
not been implemented within this firmware update. I was entirely
expecting/hoping that the volume control for the TTS would be a entirely
separate ordeal all together, very very similar to most of our, if not all
of our lovely screen reader volume control abilities to change and set them
as we see fit. Having it not be effected at all by the volume control for
our media one bit.

You know? So we can set up the volume level of the TTS within the global
options under voice settings and whatever we then set the volume level at in
here, it simply stays, just as does the rate, pitch and whatever selection
of voice we see fit does.

Other than that though, I am quite happy with the update, great job! And,
wishing each and every single one of you, a very Merry Christmas and a Happy
New Year.

Agreed!

I would also love to see a separate volume setting for the TTS.

how about two max volumes?
one for headphones and one for the internal speaker?

Perhaps the right design decision would be to have a maximum volume
setting
that slightly overdrives the speaker for audio files that had the maximum
dynamic range, but would be acceptable for audio files which don't have
such
a large dynamic range. Also, if there were finer or more adjustments in
the
volume, that would work. Remember the ear's response to sound is
logarithmic!

Agreed. The maximum volume most definitely needs to be bumped up again. It
still meets my needs, but only just. I have to walk very slow on tredmill
to
still hear the built in speaker on max volume. Before, could walk a bit
faster.
There's got to be a way to get the best of both worlds. Agree about
volume's
1 through 5; are't even worth mentioning; might as wel be muted.
Still, I'm not complaining. I love my booksense as much as ever, and am
extremely happy with all the new features; if only this volume thing could
be resolved to meet everyone's needs.
With all that being said, though, I completely agree with what Raul said
earlier today. Let's just all sit back, relax, have a merry Christmas and
enjoy the new firmware for a little while before we really start picking
it
apart too much.
Missy

Hi,

Just fired up 2.0.

Right off the bat I want it known that HIMS definitly over compensated on
the speaker volume adjustmens.

Speaker Volume levels 1 to 5 are now so low that they are all vut useless
unless your a mouse!

Maximum volume is still OK however, the BS volume advantege over the
stream
is no longer a selling point.

The issue with the volume in beta 1.1 was the discrepancy between speaker
volume level 5 and 6.

All HIMS should have done was bring levels 1 through 5 up a notch, then
they

would have been spot on, and the issue would have been closed.

As it stands in 2.0, there is no doubt in my mind that another external
volume adjustment is still required for a future release.
Again,
Bring levels 6 through 20 back to version 1.1
Increase levels 1 through 5 in line with higher incraments.

Now back to my testing LOL!

KG.
