I've spoken out on a freedom scientific list, actually on several of them, and I've been very critical several times. Let me tell you about my experience with criticizing freedom scientific:
... That's it, utter silence! They don't listen on any of the lists, so they don't care what you say. Now, the list admins are way overly sensative in my opinion, and if you say anything negative they're usually quite quick to threaten to ban you from the list; they're very defensive when it comes to negative things reported about jaws, especially comparisons with the competition. One of the reasons I switched from jaws to window eyes however is that they do listen on the list! There are others, but I don't go around saying window eyes is perfect, but I'm really greatful for people who listen to your problems; and try to help where they can immediately, and note them down for work when they can't. I never knew if that was happening with freedom scientific; well, I did, I've had some of my reported bugs go on through multiple versions because they told me not many people were using the software I was reporting a problem with. They actually told me at one point it had been withdrawn from the market, and of course it hadn't, but they were looking for any reason not to list, and not to work on it. If things aren't perfect now, well, I have a reasonable hope they will be better soon, and I never had that with jaws. I only had a reasonable expectation that they would be charging for another upgrade soon, regardless of how little it differed from the previous version.
