hey, that's cool man.
I completely agree.
Only meaning to say that incomplete or sketch scripts should be
labeled as such as to not cause mis-understandings.
I know how hard it is to write even a basic working script.
On a good day, I can do an auto-hot-key script or a batch file, so
coding is hard work.
My hat's off to Aaron, and Doug, and Ron, and all the folks Jeff
especially for his marvelous winamp scripts which really show case we
because they are an application script.
I know it's early days.
Yup you got that right, the Swan had to start off as an ugly duckling
before he flew 'grin'.
So, but thanks anyway for reminding me of this.
it's easy to forget in the heat of the moment when things break, and
your trying to get work done.
Take care.

Chris,
I think you have the wrong idea. You didn't pay for this upgrade so you
could have an add/remove script. You didn't pay to have a script that gives
you the weather for your local city. Let's face it there are lots of tools
out there already that will do this for you. What you're paying for is to
have the power so that other scripters, programmers etc. can provide more
seemless access to software that is otherwise inaccessible. It will take a
little while to start seeing the results of this awesome power that
Window-Eyes 7.0 gives you, because of the simple fact that scripting is so
new to Window-Eyes. Many programmers have not had the chance to write
scripts to actually make software accessible. Jaws scripting on the other
hand has been around so much longer so naturally there are many more scripts
available. So, Window-Eyes 7.0 is an investment. It will take some time to
start seeing the full potential. Personally, I'm hoping the folks at
Dancing Dots will eventually do for Window-Eyes what they have done for Jaws
for their good fiel software. How cool would that be? Some of the scripts
may also be developed by GW Micro, but I imagine that over time, the
majority of scripts will be developed by other third party scripters. And,
because Window-Eyes supports main stream languages that regular programmers
are already familiar with means that any programmer can write these scripts.
In the long run, this means a much more wide variety of scripts to choose
from.
I don't think there's a reason to panic or to feel that you didn't get your
money's worth because of scripts that don't function fully or correctly.
You're not paying for the scripts. If you were paying for scripts and you
were still getting script errors you would have more of a reason to be
upset, most likely at the script author who is charging for scripts that
have not been debugged correctly. Try to differentiate between the
Window-Eyes script API and scripts themselves.

Subject: Re: Add remove script problem
Pardon me, but I think people have a right to be concerned
is scripts don't work.
After all, that was the big push in the last development cycle,
scripting pushed most other concerns to the back burner.
So now if most of the company scripts are having problems, and people
are concerned, well, they paid good money to be.
Removeing the script will certianly fix the problem, but that's like
removing your eye if you get something in it 'grin'.
We're seeing a prime example of a little company who bit off more
than they could chew and didn't give them selves enough time to chew it.
I've more or less come to grips with we, using it for the things it
works well for.
Web surfing, as long as you don't mind loosing your place a lot, but
I'm used to we.
it's good for exploring stuff, and mousing around.
The scripts mostly work when they're not generating errors.
I don't feel warm and fuzzy unless I have 5 or 6 errors a day but if
the boys and girls are doing their job, this is helping them.
I take great delight in making smart-ass comments when I send in bug
reports.
But when we makes me mad, I have other alternatives.
Some folks here don't and I'd be mad too if my main means of access
wasn't doing what I needed.
So trying to keep a balance between productively trying to squash
bugs, and airing grievances, and being decent about it, and giving
the guys a chance, all in all, I gotta to say, when someone's paid
out good money, they expect results.
I don't think they know entirely what they're doing yet, because
scripting is so new for we, so we're having some growing pains.
But it is frustrating as hell when your trying to get work done.
God I do wish we didn't get rushed out the door so fast, you know a
lot of people are afraid to speak up, but I've gotten some
interesting private emails about this and that.
I get in trouble for running my mouth, but better to die on your feet
and live on your knees.
So I tell all my students, and fellow we users, call them up, write
them, let them know what you need and what ain't workin that's the
only way things will ever change.
If a blind man never stood up and fought for what they needed, we'd
still be out in the street selling pencils and begging for aums.
Some of us still aren't that much further along.
But as long as we are paying gwmicro salaries, we have a right to
ask, and to question, and yes, indeed to respectfully complain when
it is called for.
Thank you, and soap box session over.
