Hi Karyn On my Asus 1005hap netbook, if you open the system tray and hit the applications key on the synaptics icon, you can arrow down and disable the touch pad. You can then turn on and off the touch pad with function-F3 and the touch pad will no longer keep coming back on when you reboot.
