Hi. It sounds like something in the installation has been corrupted. Try
this:

* Insert the 7.11 CD and choose advanced/emergency removal. From the main
setup screen, press A then E.

* Follow the prompts and reboot your machine.

* Install 7.11 again and take note in the area where it asks for your
name
and company, that the read only edit box has your serial number.
