Well here's my answer to your question for what its worth.
Outlook and Outlook Express are not secure email clients so I never bothered to
use them, I always used Eudora Pro.
Then came a time not long ago when Eudora wouldn't do all the tasks I required of it
and tat was a shame because the software was nicely accessible and well laid out on
the screen so I thought I'd give Thunderbird a try, it had been well written up and
well reviewed on this list, I think that was about 5 years ago and I've been happily
using the software ever since though granted, the Windows PC machine isn't my primary
machine these days as I prefer to use my Mac and Iphone but another story for another
time I guess<smile>.
Just about everything you can imagine in Thunderbird is configurable, if you can't do it
in the menu and option system then you can do it in the configuration editor so the
programme is not only aimed at the novice user but has many features to please the
advanced user. I also appreciate the simple interface of the software, yep took me a
while to learn how to navigate through it but thanks again to everyone on list who gave
me tips and tricks, navigation through the various panes is "easy as peasy" as
they say.

Would you guys write a bit as to why you chose Thunderbird with Window-Eyes as
opposed to Outlook for example?
I'm not claiming Outlook is better, it's just one that many use, and I have not
been real happy with anything I have tried
but have not tried Thunderbird 3 yet. It isn't the e-mail clients themselves
that have frustrated me, but how they interact
with screen readers,.

I use thunderbird regularly, set it so that messages open in a separate
window, can't remember where that is in the options pages now but its
obvious when you find it.
Use f6 to toggle between different panes in Thunderbird, say the tree
view of mailboxes and list view of messages.
Still haven't worked out how you determine the status of a message, that
is if its unread, replied to etc.
Despite all that I reckon that Thunderbird is the best email client for
the PC since sliced bread.

Hi,
you can toggle the message pane with f8. Also, you want classic view
checked under the view menu.
Those are the things I can remember from when I set it up here.

Another reason I use Thunderbird instead of Outlook is it is free.
Outlook costs a lot of money I don't have. I do like Windows Live mail
but I like the feel of Thundeerbird. I just need to look for a good
accessible callendar program.
