Andy, if you're talking about the Kindle for PC with Accessibility, this is
not true. The text-to-speech will be enabled on all books if a screen
reader is running. Unfortunately, it is true for the Kindle, which means
that if you wanted to start reading a restricted book on your PC and then
continue reading it on your Kindle like the sighted folks do, you would be
out of luck. They should allow the Kindle for PC with Accessibility to
enable speech on the Kindle during a sync operation.

Also, the publisher has to agree to allow the TTS feature to be enabled.

The Kindle app is not the most ideal way to read books, but it certainly
is accessible. Just make sure that you download the Kindle app with
accessibility. It is a much larger file than the regular Kindle of PC
app, as it includes its own tts voices. The voices are Samantha and Tom,
same as the stream, though I understand that they are a different
version that what is on the Stream. Previously, W-E users needed to
install the QT Support app, but I don't believe it is necessary with the
current version of W-E. The main reason the Kindle app is not ideal, is
because you don't have as much control over navigation, and can't review
passages with the cursor. To me, it is perfectly fine for pleasure
reading, but not so fine for something you are trying to learn.

Hey, just wondering, since there's a book I want to read that is
only in ebook format, can I just get the Kindle App from Amazon?
Is there anything special I need to do to make sure it's maximally
accessible with Window Eyes when I install it?
Thanks much.
Evan
