While I am not a GW Micro/AI Squared Indiana staff member, I strongly
believe that XP will not be supported in the next release.  As you rightly
point out, Microsoft is no longer supporting it which means you don't get
security updates thus making your system vulnerable to viruses and hacking.

Anyone,  in my opinion, who is running XP should upgrade at their first
opportunity for the reason I specified above.  Keep in mind that VISTA will
be in the same position come October and I have that on very good authority.

Thankfully I don't have to worry about this issue any longer as my work
machine was upgraded this past July.  I love not having to deal with the XP
issues any longer; and this also means not having to worry about needing to
run an older version of WE because the next version very likely won't work
under XP.
