It depends on the material, if you want 100% silk, you pay $32 per yard (actually per more than yard, one meter is a bit more) and if you want half silk half rayon, you pay $24 per yard. Half silk half rayon means warp is silk and weft is rayon. Yes, it is $10 per 0.4 square inches. You only pay for the size of the design that will be repeated on the fabric, such as here: http://www.sartor.cz/gallery/pattern.jpg In this case you'd pay for 3*7 inches = 21" = $525. This would be a very large pattern, so the cost will be high. The smaller the pattern, the lower the price.
