I guess I have always thought of -extras as being a de facto plugin distribution hub, since no other distribution method currently exists. I suppose there is some value in having an extra base of code which can always be merged into Habari core, but I rather imagine that any other system we create will end up being a lot like a nice graphical interface on top of a subversion repository + social features. So, why not build this system in -extras rather than maintaining a separate system?
