What is a reasonable partition size for WinXP?

First, there is nothing wrong with the question, or all the other opinions ;-)

How big is the HD?
How much time do you want to spend on upkeep or special settings?
(See end of story.)

I personally use (2) x 320G drives here, on this XP-Pro-SP3+ box.

Given I have lots of space,
and don't want programs installed on different drives/partitions,
and don't want to fight programs about where they store their data,
I gave "C" 40G and currently have 15G free there.
I'm sure I could clean and recover a lot of that, or move it...
I never get rid of anything.

I just replaced a friends HD where XP-Pro tried to live on a 20G "C" partition
with another 100G available on another partition.
He filled "C" to a critical level and couldn't figure out how
to make programs store to "non-C".
Since the HD was pushing 5 years+, I cloned it and redistributed the data to "C"
which is now around 300G (and almost empty).
This guy could not even drag and drop files, ;-(

Sorry for the length...
