This would mean Thunderbird is not getting an acknowledgment from the mail server when trying to do SSL. It would have to be a settings issue in TB unless something is really broken at the server end.

For fun I'd being trying OE (just to test). As to Thunderbird not working I find that highly suspect and would guess there's something wrong with it's setup.

OK. My Thunderbird settings are wrong.
When I open I get an immediate:
/Alert/
"Mail Server does not support secure authentication."

I suppose this means I AM going thru a proxy?
Only because ATT/Bellsouth 'says' that I NEED to now use secure authentication. To which, I read using the new ports and "SSL."
Where have I gone south?

Other than the "Secure Authentication" settings of TBird to back off of, any additional help?
Thanks,
Duncan
