True, MS gave us a unified FRAMEWORK at a time when apps suffered from
needing to reinvent the wheel then also convince hardware vendors to create
& support drivers. Had they not playednl dirty with OS/2 and itb, had
succeeded we'd of been back to IBM controlled hell.

You could say their early bullying ensured all the competing hardware
companies were on a level playing field, and who besides IBM really wanted
to make an Intel OS at that point? Not apple who, like the superior but ill
fated Amiga, went motorola splintering the market.

No love lost here, I really dislike Microsoft and many other PC industry
giants for how they play ball BUT at least they aren't forcing me to use
windows nor dictating who I can buy hardware from (yet).
