The question is who the potential customers *are*.

There is a large group of people who will not buy some products
no matter what price you set and no matter how much they want it.
They are usually the ones who whine the loudest about everything:
price point, nag screens, features... anything. These people
cannot be made to pay.

Then there is a group of people to whom honesty and legitimacy is
important enough that as long as they get the value they paid
for, they will pay.

And then there is the group that actually matters, and the
biggest one: the people who might go either way. If you piss them
off, they'll keep their money and go away.

The balancing act is not to annoy the undecideds overmuch while
pissing off the freeloaders sufficiently.
