YMMV...pingboost works great for me without issues. I have one custom
map that lags up the server but the rest of my custom maps run jsut fine.

So the -pingboost 1,2,3 is useless? Cuz the servers im getting will have a
ton of power... but I was to get a fairly good amount of clients on each
box without compromising game performance or quality at all.

If I try to use any of the pingboost settings, all my clients get a ton of
choke and loss.

here is what i run for a 500 fps server:
in my startup:

sudo -u hlds sh -c "cd /servers/hlds/; screen -A -m -d -S hlds
../hlds_run -game cstrike -debug +port 27015 -autoupdate +maxplayers 14
+ip 192.168.255.201 +map cs_assault -pingboost 3"

relevant server.cfg settings:
sys_ticrate 500

@ kyle:
Thanks :)
So by adding '+fps_max XXX' and '+sys_ticrate XXX' in the command line to
start up the server, that should lock it in? or can a client still change
it
via console with rcon?
@ anyone:
To have servers run at a very consistant 16 fps, 333 fps, and 500 fps...
what kind of sys_ticrate and fps_max should be set at?
Thanks for all your help :)

Right, they add all of that info to the command line.
This way there customers cannot change it. At least that's the way it is
in
hl1mods.
sys_ticrate can be aded to either the server.cfg or CMD line.
And don't mind me. I give everyone shit, that's just the way I am.
It was just hard to understand what you were asking for in your post. :P

Well, companies sell boosted serves and must have a way to lock in the fps
.
Or anyone would change it whenever. Or am I missing something?

Thanks for ur help :)

Please refrain from posting in this manner on the mailing list. I hate
getting my inbox clogged with crap. Thanks!

In response to your question, I don't think you can actually lock it down.
I've never really been able to...unless there's something I'm missing.

cs 1.6 ?. you don't use the cvar fps_max for hl1mods, only source
mods.
you can however use it client side for hl1mods.

the corrct server side cvar for FPS on any hl1mod is "sys_ticrate"

why are clients issuing the stats command through HLSW at all.

why can't you simply ask a question in a straight forward and direct
manor
instead of sounding like a bumbling idiot.

Please to shoot yourself.

Hey,

This question has been asked many times but I always see a different
answer
(most of the time from people who run servers at their houses or
something)... My question is: I have a Linux Dual Opteron Dual-Core
2220.
When I start up a server (cs 1.6) with the parameters of fps_max 600 and
sys_tickrate 500, I get a certain amount of fps on the server when I'm
Logged in and do 'rcon stats'. For some reason, if I do 'rcon fps_max
300'
and then do 'rcon stats', the fps for the server actually changes. How
can
I make it so it does not change when the client issues the command
through
in-game console or hlsw?

Thanks,
Amit
