We had a lecturer at college whose party trick at the start of each session was to ask a selected victim to sing a concert A. After several had tried, he would then sing a note and go to the piano - he was invariably absolutely spot on.
Some years later I bumped into him whilst on holiday and we chatted about college and the subject of his party trick came up. He asked if I had noticed what was the first thing he always did whenever he came into the lecture room. I confessed that I hadn't. "I always switched on the stereo", he said.
