That isn't actually a delay.  It switches patterns instantly.  That's the
problem.  With my 909 and other gear, when you switch patterns, it goes to
the new pattern once the current one runs out.  This seems to me to be the
most logical way in a pattern-based music scene.  I'm actually going to get
rid of my RM1x because of this fault.  I'm going to get another MPC2000.
