hmm..recording into the rm1x has been no more difficult for me than any
other sequencer.  I still prefer to record into a computer sequencer for
ease of editing.  I then move patterns over to the rm1x for playback.

one option you might look at is purchacing a full blown sampler. Im
currently writing a live set with the rm1x, and access virus, and a yammy
a3k.  my understanding is that the mpc, while an interesting box, is a
very good sequencer, with limited sampling.  you already own a very good
sequencer, and for less money than the MPC you can get very good sampling.
