The "problem" is that the APPLY of the IPLTEXT only updates the SAMPLIB and leaves the actual installation to the user in a separate job. Why can't SMP/E do the ICKDSF PUTIPL command as well? It should know the volser to update - it is the one containing the updated SYS1.NUCLEUS. And a RESTORE would again do the PUTIPL function of ICKDSF.
