Now I find this very interesting. I know it is not valid to compare
architectures, but the iSeries has some interesting things about it. The
first is that it has "single level storage". Everything on the system
resides in virtual storage (64 bit currently). This means everything. I.e.
the entire disk system can be thought of as just virtual storage. The
largest i right now is the 595. It maxes out at 2TB of physical RAM, 381TB
of DASD and is 64 way. An impressive machine.

I realize the above is an apples vs bricks comparison. But I never realized
that z/OS was limited to 8TB of virtual for the entire system. Of course,
data files do not come out of that 8TB. And if a company really needs that,
then they'd just go parallel sysplex.
