IMHO it is problem with IBM. Are you deaf? The problem is know for
years, decades.
People really NEED the functionality to simply make single dataset
archive, transmit it to PC *with no tricks and black magic* and then
upload it to a z/OS and unpack.
What would be wrong with "DUMP DS() OUDATASET(some.PS) *TRANSMITTABLE*" ?
Output format should be FB (with no blocksize harcoded, any LRECL), you
can safely assume 3390 geometry if it would simlify anything.
If you really don't want to code to much then invoke AMATERSE
implicitly, although it's not the most CPU-effective tool.
The transfer type should be also predefined in PCOMM. Yes, it's another
division, but still same customer.
It would be nice to also make some PC tool to at least view the list of
packed datasets names.
