Austin is getting a cold front (well, at least it's cold to us...) late Friday night so
both Saturday and Sunday nights will be chilly.....bring a coat. The rest of the week
should be very nice.
If your looking for something interesting to do and free, check out the bats that live
under the Congress Street bridge. It's home to the largest urban bat colony in North
America. The colony is estimated at 1.5 million Mexican free-tail bats. They emerge at
dusk to go hunting for insects. From the Convention Center, it's an easy, straight walk of
about .3 of a mile (1600 feet, or 480 meters).
If you look closely as the bats emerge, you might be able to spot my ex-wfie.....the old
bat. :-)
