There is often no rash as such, but itching can be very severe so the
horse will rub constantly, sometimes just breaking the hairs off, but
occasionally opening huge sores and bloody wounds. It's a nasty
thing.... Often, the easiest place to find it is on the ventral
midline (where the belly button would be, just in front of the sheath
or udder) where you will find a few scabs and rough bits. That's often
a good first indicator.
