I agree with Bron and want to emphasize that keeping the name "DKIM2" has real
strategic value beyond the technical scope.
Names drive adoption. "DKIM2" builds on familiarity, making it easier for
vendors and operators to recognize the direction we're heading without seeing
it as a disruptive overhaul. That’s critical in an ecosystem that moves slowly
and cautiously.
Momentum is already forming around the name. Dropping it now risks confusion
and dilutes outreach. This isn’t about marketing fluff, it's about removing
barriers to deployment.
We can still revisit naming at the RFC stage if needed, but right now, "DKIM2"
is doing important work in getting attention and buy-in. Let's not throw that
away.

Oh boy.

People are allowed to make their personal assertions about the discussion.

In fact, there are no rules against this, other than assertions that cross over
to abuse. And this certainly wasn't that.

And while it's both unusual and appreciated to see wg management worried about,
and responsive to, the possibility of exceeding what is acceptable, it really
is important for wg management to be wery, wery caweful about when to fire a
management bullet.

Bron's wrong in his assessment -- and, of course, IMO wrong in his reasoning --
but not wrong in being able to assert it.

There is profound difference between offering an personal assessment vs.
asserting a formal management decision.

Feel free to provide documentation to the contrary.
