No theory, just some number crunching. The % reduction numbers are 
significant enough to indicate a fundamental change in the organization 
between 2004 and 2006, in my opinion.

(I'm not attempting to commenting on what the change is here, it might 
be something as simple as some traffic moving into a sister mailing list 
such as freed.in)
