Hi, Bad nite, but i have my email back, but no address book (got a file in user\library\address book but it appears to be an unusable format (opened it in simple text: shows names/addresses but all messed up and unformatted and pretty much useless).
Tried disk repair utility and didn't see anything about changing privileges, though it did say my hd was OK. Help keeps telling me to just select the folder, get info, choose privileges and set for user, group, everyone. But for all the folders in my users home page, all the folders are accessible to everyone; and even when i am logged in, all the folders in Trish's users home page are accessible. I know that this is not correct, as it provides no protection for each of the computer's users, even though we both have different log-ins. And in all cases, when i select a folder and select get info and select privileges, ALL OF THE CHOICES FOR USER, GROUP, EVERYONE ARE GRAYED OUT. So I keep trying to do what HELP tells me to do and it just doesn't work. So how can i fix the privileges without going to root (which is what caused me massive headaches tonight); i downloaded and ran the apple download to fix system privileges for OSX 10.1.5 but of course this did nothing for the User folders' settings. Suggestions on why Help says to make choices that are grayed out and thus not available to me? Thanks all, Dale g -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
