My similar (identical?) SmartDisk Floppy Drive, when connected, does
not interfere with shut-down of my iMac. The drive works fine if
connected when the iMac is powered off or connected after I start up.
(It does not work if connected to the keyboard USB port. An alert box
tells me "... needs more power...plug it into another USB port on
your computer...")

I am running OS 9.2.1. Donald is running a version of X, I believe.
So, X is not co-operating? Or there is a different reason for
Donald's problem.
