IMO these discussions are so irrelevant. It's what you do with the computer that matters, which is why I choose the Mac OS, not the PowerPC platform.
So, you only use Macs that have 680x0 chips? If you want to use Mac OS 10.x then your computer must have at least a Generation 3 (G3) PowerPC chip. If you want to use Mac OS 9, then you MIGHT be able to use a G2 PowerPC chip, i.e., a PowerPC 603. The PowerPC 601 & 604 chips were the the first generation of PowerPC chips. I don't see how you can be using a current Mac OS with out using a PowerPC chip. And, yes, I know that Apple has a version of MacOS 10 that runs on Intel architecture chips but that was just an in-house test in case Motorola fell on its face. Fortunately, IBM came through, so the MacIntel wasn't needed.
