>>I'd like to know what evidence either of you could produce to back up your claim that Classic won't run on Intel Macs. Rosetta, which is part of OS, allows any app that runs on a G3 to run on an Intel Mac. I'm not saying you're wrong, just saying there's nothing out there that I'm aware of that says you're right.<<

Come on, you're always telling everyone else to do some googling, how come you didn't? ;) Here's a link to a google on this topic: http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=schiller+Mac+intel +classic&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

>>Then there is this quote from the Universal Binaries Development home page on Apple's Developer site: "If your application runs in a version of the Mac OS that is earlier than Mac OS X version 10.0, you should first read Carbon Porting Guide and Technical Note TN2003 Moving Your Code to Mac OS X."<<

That sounds pretty clear to me. :)

>>I should think that if Apple is going to put people through a transition, they'd bend over backwards to make sure as many as possible are happy -- which gives them strong incentive to keep Classic in there for many years to come. It doesn't require any updating, costs them nothing, keeps the intellectual property viable and keeps a bunch of institutions/corporate/old-timer customers happy. I'm not quite willing to put money on it, but I feel pretty sure that Classic will be sticking around.<<

Read the first article indexed in that google search above by C/Net. Phil Schiller believes that no one uses Classic anymore and that it is therefore a very low priority at this point. Which is fine by me, because the Classic Mac OS outlived its technical potential a long time before OS 9 ever came along. Any OS without protected memory has no right to live anymore with today's RAM-hungry apps. Just my opinion.

Peace,
Todd
