Just a possibly silly question, but... if the network is working fine wired, why switch those machines to wireless at all?!? Wireless will give you at best half the speed of your wired network. If all you are doing is connecting to the internet over a connection that is 10 Mbs or less, then it may not matter... until you go to move large files between computers on the local network. But seriously, why fix what ain't broke? I do understand that you may have legit reasons for wanting to make the switch, such as ethernet cables laying on the floor crossing a room or further. That is certainly a valid reason for wanting to move to wireless. I just wanted to bring it up because I've seen so many people switch to wireless for no other reason then they can, and then get smacked with the shortcomings of it. If you have the choice, always go with wired, it is faster, more reliable, and generates fewer overall headaches for the user. That doesn't mean you shouldn't add wireless as an option to your home. If you have a laptop, or friends have them and bring them over (like you mention in your email), wireless is perfect for that. I would just think twice about replacing existing wired connections with wireless unless you have a good reason to do so. -chris <http://www.mythtech.net> -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
