I'll contact you privately so that we can arrange for the CD. But, I'd like to know what Mac you're using? Also, did you know that you can turn off some of the things in 10.4 that you probably find annoying (like I did)....one being Dashboard. I hated it. I disabled it on all my Macs. If I want to know the weather, I'll check outside, or my local news channel. On some of my Mac keyboards, hitting F12 to eject the CD would launch Dashboard until I discovered that you had to hold the key down for a bit longer then the drive would eject....how annoying! But I come from the world where I never used OS 9. I switched in 2001 from the PC. They had just introduced Windows ME and it came with my latest purchase. It was a Gateway with an AMD 900 mhz and it would crash every time you looked at it sideways. I had to totally re-install the OS at least 6 times in 3 months......losing all of my data each time. It was during that time that I bought an old PowerPC 7200 off Ebay and started playing with it. It ran everything just fine and worked fine on the network. It was running 8.6. I had a copy of Office on it and was actually able to get work done while my PC sat there with the BSOD (BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH). I was in the habit of buying a new computer each year and when it came time, I bought a Mac PowerPC 867 G4 it had 10.1 and 9.2 on it.....it booted into 10.1 and I just never ran anything else. All the software that I've purchased has been for OS X. From 2001 until the middle of last year, I had gotten rid of every PC in our house and was making efforts to get relatives to come over to the Mac side by giving away Macs that I was replacing with new ones I bought. Finally my wife had to buy a PC, her bank required it. There intranet just wouldn't work with her Mac laptop, it's running XP and when I ordered it from Dell, I thought that I had gotten her a pretty good machine. Well let me tell you, trying to do anything on it is an absolute horror! Example, over the weekend a friend had created a zip file containing some (shall we say illegal apps) for her in .bin or .iso format and had zipped them into one file. We spent nearly 2 hours trying to figure out how to extract these files using a PC app called Nero.....all without any success. Finally I said, "Give me the CD and I brought it over to my G5 and using Toast had the whole thing unzipped and extracted within 15 minutes. I gave her back the disks with the installation files intact and she went on her merry way. Windows XP is the "primitive and crude" OS. Not intuitive at all! There just doesn't seem to be an easy way to do anything. I'll stick to OS X. It gets the job done. It never crashes and I don't have to run tons of Antivirus software just to connect to the internet. My main computer is a dual 2 gig G5 with 4 gig RAM. I have a 20 inch Cinema display and I love it. I feel as though I won't need a new computer for many years to come, but I can change my mind. I'm going to be watching closely to see what's going to be introduce on the 11th. In the mean time, I do want you people who still use OS 9 to know that I DO NOT look down on you. As a matter of fact I admire the fact that you are still able to squeeze every bit of performance that you can out of those very powerful (in their day) computers. I LOVE my older Macs. I keep them around and use them often. My G3 Blue & White is running 10.3.9 Server and I might mention it does it very well.
