Talk to the millions of DOS users still out there (no, there's not a lot of DOS-using consumers out there, but you'd be surprised how many businesses and professionals still use it).

I'm not holding my
breath over these new Imacs, I guess I would have
liked to see a "kewler" version of the intel chip,
rather than an off the shelf version.

I would have thought getting TWO processors for the price of one was "kewl," but evidently you have different criteria. As for the new iMacs, I hate to say this because I generally love what Apple do, but if you want to talk about "Rev. 1 hardware" rules this new machine is probably the archetype. I will be watching closely (but as a consumer and as a tech) to see what, if any, bugs shake loose.

And really, not
VISTA compatible?? what's the harm there?

There's a great deal of harm. First of all, I think Apple would say that Microsoft should have "first dibs" on making (either via Virtual PC or some other way) a "bridge" to Windows Vista. Second, you don't actually know that it isn't Vista compatible. Nobody's tried.

Naturally APPLE aren't going to do that -- they'd be competing with themselves in the OS market, and that's just nuts. But they've left the door open for third parties, including MS, so what's the problem?

I've got vista with a
runtime xp engine... please stay away from windoze,
it's still a nightmare, btw.

you DO know you're sending some rather mixed messages here, don't you? :)

Cheers
Chas
