Companies don't really care about the physical discs as they cost them only a few cents. What they care about is the license. This is what you are essentially paying for. I don't know whether a lawyer will back me up, but in my understanding if you have the license you should be able to get the CDs so you can use that license. The one personal backup, in my understanding means for each single licence you can have two copies a backup and an original. Why would he care if it was legal or not to get a friend to burn him a copy if he bought and used pirated software. If you ask me what he wrote was careless mistake, not an indication that he pirated the software. We giving him help should be completely independent of how he got the software. It is not our problem and no one is at danger of getting hurt. Anyhow, this is an international list and copyright laws very from country to country.
