As much as I hate to say it, but St. Charles is correct. The version that Apple sells needs to be updated as soon as you install it. Every time I've upgraded I've had to do a software update. 10.3.9 was the end of the road for that feline. When I purchased Tiger it wasn't 10.4.4, but that's what the "About This Mac" box says now.
