Hi There,

First and foremost: Viruses PC=185,000 and counting Macs=0
that in itself should be enough!

Ease of use, simple to keep up to date, secure, elegant, and cost
effective. With built-in Bootcamp, the PC devotees can run Windows if
they must.
So, Mac gives you 2 computers, and 2 OS in one.

** How to Save $ on your purchase:

1) Have you considered a refurbed Mac? Or, do you qualify for Apple
Education Discount or Non-Profit discount?

  - See the New Special Student package of a Mac & iPod:
http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?nnmm=browse&node=campaigns/back_to_school&sf=wHF2F2PHCCCX72KDY&mco=NzY2NzU5

-Check out, the Apple Refurbs Specials which post after midnight:
http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=A35F9A4&nclm=CertifiedMac

Also, check the Apple Online Store for Brand New previous generation
Macs, in the Clearance section, here:
http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?sf=wHF2F2PHCCCX72KDY&nnmm=browse&node=home/specialdeals/clearance

-Search refurbs via dealmac.com, or, smalldog.com (they have good
selection of New previous generation, too), powermax.com,
expercom.com,macsales.com, lacompuercompany.com

*I always buy refurbed units and have never had a problem. Albeit, I
do invest in Applecare :]

2)**You can p/u extra Ram (easy to install in iMac) & Applecare for
less by doing a dealmac.com
search or from good online retailers: smalldog.com, powermax.com,
LAComputer.com, Macsales.com,
( ** my favorite for Ram) or, off eBay
or, from MacUserGroups:
http://www.apple.com/usergroups & http://MacOSG.com

*Applecare offers much more than just an extended warranty for
hardware, as it also gives you support for all the Apple Software &
telephone support available 8A-8P daily, this is for both what you get
now, and what you may add in the future, such as: Apple Software:
iWork, iLife, Aperture, or additional hardware, like: Airport Express,
Time Capsule, etc.

**Caveat about transferring data, files, etc. from an older PPC to new
intel Mac: Do Not Use Migration Assistant!!! There have been issues,
of important bits & pieces going missing, along with problems going
from older Macs to newer Macs. You do not want to loose that data. Copy
important files, documents, addresses, to a disc and an external
drive, (you should do this, in any case before an upgrade).
