I see FIOS advertised over and over, but even though I live in a city it's
still not here.
I have some of my email sent to my gMail account and have my gMail account set
up to forward email to my Verizon account.

We have an aluminum iMac, a MacBook, and an iBook accessing two e-mail
accounts, one for personal traffic and the other for e-lists and
various subscriptions.

On February 20, Verizon FiOS will replace our Cox cable service. To
reduce the hassle of changing e-mail addresses in the future, I opened
a Gmail account for my e-lists and subscriptions using POP mail. So
far, this seems to be a very nice way to go. And lately, there seem
to be fewer complaints about Gmail service in the lowendmac.com lists.

What are the downsides of using Gmail? For our personal account, are
there good reasons for using a Verizon account instead of Gmail?

Many Thanks,
Al Poulin
