I was wondering how to change the default service welcome message and still retain the hostname (per RFC 821 for SMTP, etc.). The Imail Guide shows how to change this via registry change,
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE /System/CurrentControlSet/Services/SMTPD32/Parameters/ HelloMsg however it causes the hostname to be left out. Is there a way to include a variable within the key to retain the hostname of the paticular server receiving the connection? My intention is to leave out the mailservers version number to dodge scripted or automated exploits. (Sorry about cross-posting to declude, but there seem to be many knowledgeable people on that list, and security is everyones concern) Best regards, Jeff ______________________________________________________________________ The HKSI-IMail Admin List is hosted by........
